Facebook Messenger Now Supports End-to-End Encryption!

Social media giant Facebook has announced that the option to make end-to-end encrypted video calls is available in Messenger. End-to-end encryption is already in place for one-on-one text chats, and this move will now make the support available for video calls as well. WhatsApp Messenger, which is owned by the company, already had this support in both correspondence, voice conversations and video calls.

The feature will be available to all users, but will not be active by default. End-to-end encryption for video was already available for WhatsApp, Facebook’s other popular messaging app. Facebook says video calls on Messenger are also very popular, with more than 150 million video calls made on Messenger per day.

Facebook has also announced the addition of more fine-grained controls for users over how long it takes for their lost messages to disappear, from 5 seconds to 24 hours.
