SalesForce Prepares to Acquire Slack

According to the latest report by WSJ, Salesforce is in talks to acquire Slack , the world’s number one business app . Slack is currently valued at $17 billion. Therefore, Salesforce may need to pay more than $20 billion to successfully complete this acquisition.

Alongside its market-leading CRM (Customer relationship management) service, Salesforce also sells other enterprise applications and services focused on customer service, marketing automation, analytics and application development. With the acquisition of Slack, Salesforce will enter the communications and collaboration market and compete directly with Microsoft Teams.

What is Slack?

Slack is a cloud-based team collaboration app. It was created by Canadian-based developer Stewart Butterfield. Its name has emerged from the initials of the English phrase “Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge”. Historically, it operates in a structure similar to the operating logic of IRC.
