“Audio and Video” Speech Feature Arrived in WhatsApp Desktop Applications

After the popular messaging application WhatsApp, owned by the social media giant Facebook, started testing on the subject since December, it was announced that the audio and video calling feature is now available to all WhatsApp Desktop application users.

Desktop search feature includes support for the following versions:

  • macOS 10.13 and newer

Given the company’s global issues with its new privacy agreements at the moment, WhatsApp has made an effort to confirm that End-to-End encryption is enabled by default for calls made using the service.

Currently only 1:1 calls are supported, but at a later date WhatApp has promised group calls will come. However, the desktop app remains an extension of the mobile app, and users still need to sign in using a QR Code scanned by the WhatsApp app on their phone.
