Facebook Agrees With Ray-Ban To Produce Smart Augmented Reality Glasses!

Facebook has been working on producing its own augmented reality glasses in recent years. According to a report by CNBC, these glasses will be called Orion and will not complement your phone. Reportedly, they’ll be able to make calls without needing to be connected to a smartphone, and will have a small Google Glass-like display to stream information from.

According to the CNBC report, Facebook is collaborating with popular eyewear brand Luxottica, makers of Ray-Ban eyewear, to launch it in the next few years, possibly between 2023 and 2025.

The name will not be ‘Orion’

The resulting product from the collaboration with Facebook will not be seen under the name “Orion”, but will not be seen in a completely different set of smart glasses, produced under the codename called “Stella”.

This Facebook work is said to be introduced in a few years, most likely first as a camera feature that allows users like “Orion” and Snap Spectacles to record and share their daily memories.
